Come join us in Asheville, NC to learn about the USACE's regulatory consideration of the Northern Long-Eared Bat (Myotis septentrionalis) and other protected species.

While federally listed bats have long been a regulatory consideration in WNC, Corps consideration of these species is more important than ever when reviewing applications/PCNs. The main reasons for this are (1) the Northern long-eared bat, which is found in WNC and other parts of NC, was listed in 2015, and (2) other federally listed bats in WNC (i.e., Gray, Virginia Big-Eared, and Indiana) are being found in locations not previously documented.

Mr. David Brown, a Regulatory Specialist with the Wilmington District's Asheville Regulatory Field Office, will discuss appropriate coordination procedures for projects occurring in western North Carolina.  Mr. Brown will also touch on several Regulatory Program updates including the new Electronic-PCN, Field Office geographic coverage areas, staffing changes, pertinent contact and submittal information, GIS platforms and usage, and CWA rulemaking.  Audience questions and interaction are encouraged throughout the meeting.
